James-CaanDragons' Den entrepreneur James Caan and his private equity firm Hamilton Bradshaw have appointed Firefly to handle an ongoing PR programme across print, broadcast and online media, following a competitive pitch process.

“We like working with companies and individuals who are fiercely entrepreneurial and competitive, and it was clear from the word 'go' that Firefly was a great match for us," said James Caan. "Equally, the strength of their ideas and focus on innovation, quality of people and commitment to follow-through cannot be ignored in a market full of bland PR agencies.”

Firefly managing director Mark Mellor added: "The current Dragons' Den series on BBC Two has undoubtedly boosted James Caan's profile through the roof and the Firefly team is looking forward to being involved in numerous high profile stories, as well as handling the increasing volume of news concerning interesting and diverse investments made by James and his private equity firm Hamilton Bradshaw."

Commencing August and reporting to James While, head of marketing and PR at Hamilton Bradshaw, Firefly will be working on news stories surrounding Hamilton Bradshaw investments, as well as James Caan's own personal activities and investments. In addition to media relations, Firefly's brief will embrace speaker platform and brand endorsement opportunities.

James Caan’s recent investments in the Dragon’s Den include a 49% stake in Smart Power Ltd owned by inventor Rupert Sweet-Escott. Recent products include the Airbike, a pedal-driven power system for paragliders, and the Secret Energy Turbine - a vertical axis wind turbine discreetly housed in a traditional chimney pot, which provides ample energy to supply most domestic lighting and light-duty electrical needs.

James Caan, serial entrepreneur and CEO of private equity firm Hamilton Bradshaw, has been building and selling businesses since 1985. As well as being a highly acclaimed figure in the business world having received awards such as the PricewaterhouseCoopers ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ and the ‘BT Enterprise of the Year’, James is best known for being one of the panellists on BBC Two’s Dragons’ Den.
