Last night some of the Firefly team completed their 2nd Race for Life in Battersea Park to raise money for Cancer Research UK (along with another 3,000 people). Dressed in bright pink with flashing antennae, and with soggy and muddy trainers from the rain, we gathered together for photos and attached our race numbers (there are now no safety pins left in the First Aid box). Luckily, the rain stopped and the weather brightened up when we reached the start. We all gave the running a go, but we weren’t quite up to Paula Radcliffe’s standard, she shot past us when we were at the 2k marker and she was on the home stretch already! It was a very moving event – in every sense. Battersea Park was a great place to run and when we finally crossed the finish line there was a very impressive picnic waiting for us, along with a much needed glass of wine or two.

Thanks to everyone who supported us this year, we beat our fundraising target and if you’re feeling charitable there’s still time to sponsor us.
